Five Types of Loaded Fries

Loaded Sour Cream & Onion Waffle Fries

Have you ever had loaded fries? They’re one of my favorite foods and it’s so versatile. There’s many different kinds of loaded fries to eat and these are five types that I personally enjoy. From cheesy bacon to poutine, loaded fries are so good and flavorful. It’s a perfect dinner, late night snack, or bar food during a night out!

  1. Cheesy Bacon Ranch Fries

Cheesy bacon ranch fries is exactly what the name says. A bed of crispy fries, topped with crunchy bacon, melty cheese, and ranch drizzle. You can get these at restaurants, fast food places, or even make them at home. These I would consider the most simple type of loaded fries, the standard even. But the flavor is out of this world! I love the ones from Charley’s Cheesesteaks at the mall.

2. Chili Cheese Fries

A diner staple, chili cheese fries. Fries loaded with chili meat and melty cheese, so rich and filling. Also found in multiple places, chili cheese fries are also another standard type of loaded fries. My personal favorites are from Sonic, affordable and delicious for a fast food option.

3. Carne Asada Fries

Carne asada fries, fries topped with carne asada, a grilled and marinated meat used in many Mexican dishes. They can also have guacamole, sour cream, pico de Gallo, jalapeños, and of course cheese. These are mostly served at Mexican cuisine restaurants. The best ones I’ve had so far were from El Gordo, a taco place located in San Diego, California.

4. Animal Styled Fries

Animal styled fries, a dish normally found on the In-n-Out menu. Never heard of that before? The fast food restaurant is found mainly on the west coast of the United States. It contains fries with caramelized onions, melted American cheese, and their signature animal style sauce. The sauce is comparable to thousand island dressing if you ever had it before. I’ve made my own from scratch as we don’t have In-n-Out in Buffalo, but it’s still very tasty!

5. Poutine

Heard of poutine before? Originated from Quebec, Canada, these fries have gravy and cheese curds on top. These flavors combined create a warm and cozy feeling in your mouth. If you live in Canada, many places would serve the poutine. Unfortunately in Buffalo, I’ve had to make my own. The closest thing I could find to original was in Niagara Falls at the casino. We dined at one of the restaurants and were served the yummy dish. They also offer it at Jim’s Stakeout and The Yelling Goat, also good choices to dine at.

Overall, as you can tell, I am a big fan of loaded fries. From the simplest type of just cheese and bacon, to the more unique flavors of carne asada and animal style, all of it is amazing. Of course there are many more types of loaded fries, it just shows how versatile they are. Down below is a link to a video about even more different kinds of loaded fries you can make!
