The Buffalo Bills are one of the most relevant discussions in Buffalo today. They are the team everyone hopes can finally bring back a championship to Western New York (WNY). This page will tell you the top 5 players on this 2025 Buffalo Bills roster that will have the biggest impact in trying to achieve that long awaited goal of raising a Lombardi in downtown Buffalo.
1. Josh Allen, QB

Shockingly, the #1 player on the Bills just so happens to be their franchise Quarterback. Allen has taken this team to an AFC East title the past five seasons as he has also been in the MVP (Most Valuable Player) conversation across the entire NFL. Allen is one of the most prolific passers in this generation and it will be no surprise if he is the main reason why the Bills finally get over the hump.
2. Dion Dawkins, OT

Dion Dawkins may not put up many stats on the field or even have miraculous plays, but he is a staple to this football team. He is the blindside protector on the offensive line for QB Josh Allen as Allen wouldn’t be able to make half the crazy plays he’s made without him. He’s not just a staple on the team, either, as he is also a staple in the community. He is always out in the community doing good as some people in the community wouldn’t be the same without him.
3. Terrel Bernard, LB

Alongside QB Josh Allen, there is one other player on the roster that is also a team captain. That player is Terrel Bernard. Bernard is one of the younger players on the team but that doesn’t make him any less important. He is the focal point of the defense and one of the best young LBs in the entire league. He is all about physicality and toughness as he shows it on the field play in and play out. If you’re looking for a player to start building a defense with, look no further than Terrel Bernard.
4. James Cook, RB

Josh Allen can’t be the only part of the offense for the Bills to succeed. RB James Cook sprinted onto the season last season accounting for 1,009 rushing yards along with a league leading 16 rushing touchdowns. Cook was the last Bills player since LeSean McCoy back in 2017 to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season. Before Cook, the offense with Josh Allen at the helm was always a pass heavy team. Now with James Cook in the fold, the offense has become two dimensional which makes the Bills now so much harder to stop when they have the ball.
5. Christian Benford, CB

Rounding out the top 5, we have another young stud on defense as Benford is one of the most underrated defenders in the game. Benford was drafted in the 6th round of the 2022 NFL draft behind Kaiir Elam, another corner, who was drafted in the first round by the Bills. Benford overcame the huge challenge of competing with Elam for the starting job, and ever since has been a lockdown corner for the Bills. The Bills have even rewarded Benford for his efforts with a 4-year, $76M deal, making him one of the highest paid players on the team. The only chance Buffalo has to get over the hump this year is if Benford continues to keep playing the elite player he is.
There are many other players on the Bills to chose to make a bigger impact this season, but these 5 players are hard to take off the list. Each of them embodies what it means to be a Buffalo Bill with their resilience, toughness, willingness to never give up, they got it all. Just like how they got it all, they’ll need to give it their all in order for Buffalo to obtain it’s first ever Lombardi trophy come February 2026.
