There are a lot of producers in todays music industry that have helped shape music culture in not just hip hop but all genres. By adapting others techniques and using them to help form their own style, lots of producers are doing the work behind the scenes to make the music people love. This is a list of five music producers who I feel have helped shaped todays current state of hiphop and are the people the youth looks up to when it comes to new sound.

5.RZA
Robert diggs, also known as RZA is an American born rapper and producer from Staten Island NY. He is best known for being the founder of The Wutang Clan in the mid 90’s. RZA has received numerous nominations and awards throughout his career. We highlight him as an influential producer because his early 90s sample technique and ability to add a gritty rough feel to his music help define rap music. His overall influence made with wutang was able to bring rap and hip hop music all over the world.
4. Pharrell Williams
Pharrell Williams is a producer and recording artist from Virginia Beach VA. Pharrell has 13 grammy awards and numerous billboard hits throughout the early 2000s. During his prime he helped blend the hiphop and pop genres to create radio hits. His variety of sound and artist is influential for todays upcoming producers and inspires different levels of creativity.
3. Metro Boomin
“If young metro don’t trust you ima shoot you”- future. Today it is hard to find a hot hiphop song that docent have Metro Boomin’s producer touch on it. The St.louis producer has been on the grind since 2013 establish lots of relationships in the music industry. In 2016 as the sound of Hiphop started to change metro established himself as this current generations leading producer being behind some of the biggest hits in music. Metro Boomin’s work ethic is the influence, he shows that hard work and determination leads to success.
2. Pierre Bourne
“Yo Pierre you wanna come out here” is one of the most recognizable producer tags of all time. coming out of Jamaica Queens NY, Pierre Bourne’s unique sound and catchy drum patterns separate him from the rest. During the late 2010’s Pierre’s beats were the favorite amongst artist in the game, he produced a lot of hits early for the mega hip hop stars of today such as Playboi Carti and Lil Uzi Vert. His sound is used by others a lot today and he is consider the god father of internet music.
1. Ye
It’s almost impossible to do a producer list and not include Ye formally known as Kanye West. Hate him or Love him the sound is undeniable. With 24 Grammys ye is in a class of his own. The Chicago native has been a power player in music since his first project in 2004. Today despite numerous controversies he still owns the music game and is considered a genius amongst his piers. He sits at number 1 on the list because his influence is more than music, his reach effects people in business, fashion and even politics.
